Meet Coleen Solomon. Meet your Nations Family.
“This is a Kairos moment!”
Coleen is from Trinidad and came to the United States in 1996 with her late husband and two year old son. She and her late husband were saved together as teens and escaped Trinidad looking for a life of freedom. A few months after arriving in the US her family didn’t have a place to stay so a local church offered a Sunday School classroom for them to live in. Two years after arriving in the U.S. Coleen’s husband passed away of liver cancer, leaving her to be a single mom and widow at the young age of 27. That Sunday School classroom became her home for the next 8 years. Coleen says, “God used that church to show His mercy and goodness. I volunteered to clean the church and bathrooms when we started living there. Eventually I would help lead prayer meetings and was assigned the minister of prayer and intercession. When I left that church I was a core leader, volunteer, administrative assistant, and board member. It wasn’t easy but it is my story.” It was during these years that Coleen learned to fully rely on God and poured her life into ministry.
Anyone who meets Coleen knows she is passionate about Jesus and living a life that models His humility and servanthood. She desires for a body of people who value intimacy with Jesus while linking arms and doing life together; a people who will live the book of Acts, not only in sharpening each other, but willing to lay down their lives for the Gospel. In September 2020, Coleen felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit to move from her home in Kansas City, Missouri to Florida. She didn’t know what she was going to do, or why she was moving, but she was obedient to what the Holy Spirit put in her heart.
Coleen is well educated and holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literature. Although Coleen is highly intelligent and personable, she struggled in finding a job, which made her question why the Lord brought her to Orlando. She finally came to the realization that the Lord just wanted to spend time with her. She longed to be in the presence of the Lord, so she decided to pause the job search and spend every day meeting the Lord in her home.
A couple months later, a friend invited Coleen to attend a pre-launch service at Nations Church to learn more about the mission and vision, then another friend invited her to a Nations Church small group focusing on prayer. It was at this prayer gathering that everything changed. After months of feeling alone, Coleen stepped into the Nations family and hasn’t been the same since. She walked in as a stranger but left feeling like she had found her family. Since then, Coleen has been involved in outreaches, small groups, prayer meetings, hospitality, and discipleship training.
One of the greatest things she has gained from Nations Church is spiritual growth and a sense of fulfillment and purpose from being around like-minded people. She loves the opportunities that Nations Church has to serve the community outside the four walls and genuinely connect with people. One thing Coleen appreciates about Nations Church that is different from other churches is the way it functions as Ecclesia and not a typical local church.
Through a series of prophetic events, it was confirmed in her Spirit to apply for CfaN Bootcamp 2021. After an interview process and much prayer, it was decided that Coleen would be accepted into the Bootcamp program. As she read her acceptance e-mail at a small group, tears streamed down her face as she said, “this is a Kairos moment.” It was as if all of the circumstances of the past had brought her to this very moment. She was made for this. Every doubt. Every trial. Every struggle. Every victory. Every triumph. Every win. It was through these moments that the Lord led her to Nations Church and CfaN.
In just a few short weeks Coleen will embark on the journey of a lifetime and begin learning new strategies and techniques to reach the world for Jesus Christ. She will go through intense evangelism training with 140 international students who are sold out for the Gospel. She will travel to Africa, preach the Gospel with confidence, and share the love of Jesus with others. And, to think all this happened due to a simple act of obedience. Let this be a reminder to you, when you give God your YES, He will bring you into full alignment of His will!
We are glad you are here Coleen!
